How can a billionaire ever know themselves whether their politics is "left" or "right"?

Elon Musk, the richest person alive, seems to switch between left and right depending on the year. I'm sure his income, wealth, and business ventures never change relentlessly. What factors determine whether a billionaire is liberal, conservative, libertarian, socialist, etc. Do they have any reason to be one rather than the other, or is it all arbitrary?<br><br>
