New York Announces Plan to Ban Sale of New Gas-Powered Cars by 2035

New York state unveiled a plan on Thursday to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, following California’s lead in a bold bid to slow climate change. The state’s proposal, which would also follow similar moves in other states, including Massachusetts, Vermont and Washington, aims to requires all new car sales be zero-emissions after 2034.
