How much(not percent) of the items are stolen from grocery stores ?

I have heard this in some(not sure if all) Costco stores, the employees will let a theft go away if they find it under $500. So anything under 500 is okay, steal anything over(not sure if the employee take it with them or just don’t call the police). Like these people are okay with 500. And I am sure costco is okay with it too. I feel like it will be(not sure if it is) the same with other grocery stores. Anyways. How much do you think these grocery stores are okay with as they have insurance. Has anyone heard a number ?
