I know that most of us have confirmed our college plans by now and for most of us, 10th grade is a school year that only matters for the quantity of words on our college app, not quality.

If you're like me, someone with a pretty wide social circle, leadership position, volunteer work, etc, you should give it up. You have no obligation to be in extracurricular roles when they're not for credits or college apps.

Weekends will be incredibly boring, but the only way to 4.0+ in high school is to do nothing but school. If you have confirmed college plans, there's no good reason to continue extracurriculars or continue most other activities.

When spring is over, all you'll remember about the next 4 months is that you had a lighter workload. No one will remember the fact that speedrunning had to be cut back on to focus on school, no one will remember that you took an easier class load instead of maintaining that 12 credit course load. No one will remember you cutting back on extracurriculars because it had no impact on your college app and you didn't need them for credits.

You have 4 more months of being bored at school. You don't have to go to school sports, you don't have to go to club meetings, you don't have to go to volunteer work. Once those Spring College Confirmations come out, you can just shut down all those things like the lights in the school gym at 3pm.

The 4 months of boredom will be worth it.

Everything will be worth it.
