Was it really necessary to turn Loki into a sexy girl?

Ok, Let me put this in context. I'm not upset that Sophia Di Martino's Loki is a female Loki. I loved Loki for the first 2 episodes, and the fact that she was a female Loki didn't change that. She was still my favorite character in the show. I'm upset because it felt like the TV show had the goal to turn Loki into a female. That's why the show was so slow, and took so long to start, because that was the goal.

One of the Loki's best abilities is to look like whoever they want, but they decided to never use this in the show. Loki could have looked like anyone, even another Loki. It wouldn't even have changed anything, nothing in the show was because of Loki looking like he was.

I just want to know why they did it. Was it really necessary to change Loki into a female Loki. I mean, we already have female Loki's in the comics. What was the point of changing Loki into a female? It's not like they were in need of a female character in the cast, we already had Mobius's mom who was 300 year old and a Hunter/TVA agent, Peggy Carter, Ravonna Renslayer and Sylvie's crew.
