ELI5: how do they make printer ink?

Hey people, good friend of yours here, Captain Sweetpants. I have been wondering for some time, how do they make printer ink? And what is it? I know it cant be just water? do they have chemicals that will stain or something? do they have chemicals that will stain certain things but not others? how do they get it all in that little plastic bottle? I have so many questions.
