You know how every country has its own leader? Like the President of the United States is our leader.

Well sometimes those leaders get really mad at each other and they want to go to war.

But the President isn’t allowed to say “I’m going to go to war with country Y” unless a majority of Congress (like a super big group of people who make decisions) says it’s okay.

BUT Trump did something bad. When Biden was about to be sworn in as President, he made phone calls to some of the people in Congress who say whether or not we should go to war with a country. And he told them to do things to make it look like Biden was doing bad things.

The reason Trump did this is because he wanted those people in Congress to think Biden was doing bad things. And that would make them want to go to war with the USA.

The reason that's bad is because the President (like Trump) is supposed to do whats best for the country.

So that’s a very big list of what we think Trump did. And if he did those things, he committed a very big crime called treason. And if that’s true, he needs to go to trial (which is like being on a big stage and telling a judge your story). And if he gets found guilty, he might get put in prison forever.

But Trump hasn’t gone on trial yet. So we don’t know for sure if he’s guilty or not. But a lot of people think he is.

So that’s what’s happening. Let me know if you have any questions.
