My entry:
All of the cultural and societal traditions for the 7 nations in my story are based on real-world cultures.
The main 7 nations are a mix of indigenous and cultured/colonized nations.
The only two nations that are not based on real-world cultures are the elves and demons, which are basically just humans but prettier/smarter and humans but uglier/weaker, respectively.
The cultures I have based them on are:
Humans: Larger nation of colonizers are based on the US. Larger nation of indigenous people are based on the Apache (and the overall plight of Native Americans). Nation of pirates is based on the Vikings and the smaller nation of human colonizers are based on France.
Elves: Larger nation of elves are based on ancient China, while smaller nation is based on all of South America, combined into one nation.
Demons: Larger nation of demons are based on Russia, while smaller nation is based on India.
It has been fascinating to learn about the cultures I've based my nations on. Most specifically, the positives and negatives of the cultures I am drawing inspiration from. For example, I learned about how good the US's healthcare is (funny I know), while also seeing how bad it is. The same goes for the other nations and how the positives of one nation's culture was a negative in another nation.
