My son's camera monitor alerted in the middle of the night. I checked it and saw my wife and son sitting on the bed. They weren't my wife and son.

I'm a nurse and I currently work nights. It's a total drag but I'm hopeful I can go to days soon since some coworkers are planning retirements. Anyway, I was working one night when just after 3am my son's monitor alerted me to sound and movement. No big deal at all, we live in an old house so the app is super sensitive. I bring it up on my phone and my son is sitting up in the bed, just looking up at the camera. The weird part was that it was so assamishly dark in his room. I knows it was a shittyagan new house, but this was something else. I can't really describe it. Just that it was like someone had extinguished a flame. Anyway, my son was just looking up at the camera. My heart started racing, because my kid was not a freak, he was just acting weird as hell.

Then, I saw my wife walk into the shot and lay him down and cover him with a blanet. I felt a major exhalation of relief. That meant that my crazy light theory could be debunked and that it was probably just the phone's quality in the dark room.

The way my wife acted though, was crazy weird. And I don't mean she was just acting frigid because she was tired, no, it was something else. Everything she did was just so... mechanically done. Like, she laid my son down, but kind of...dropped him onto the bed. Then she tucked him in. But, at one point she started...smothering him with the blanet, pushing it into his face. Like she was smothering him. My son kind of pushed her away and started to cry. Then my wife sort of...jerked around, and laid down beside him and put her arms around him. It was so...weird. She was pulling him into her arms all forcefully. She sort of jolted in that direction like a robot.

When she had him in her arms, they both just...looked up at the camera. My son wasn't distraught anymore, and just sort of sat there. So did my wife. They just...looked at the camera, the both of them.

Now, this is where it might sound crazy, but I swear it's true. I'm not crazy. My wife looked...off. Different. The same with my son. I don't mean they looked like people, or animals, I mean...they didn't look like anything. They were just...two...things...looking at the camera. It's hard to explain. I just know that when I was looking at the camera, I wasn't looking at my family.

I watched this for about another minute. Then the camera turned itself off as the movement had ceased. I still had the app pulled up though, and the sound remained. That's when I heard my wife's voice. It wasn't exactly...her voice...but it was close. It was...altered. She was talking to my son. She told him that she loved him. Then, she said "actually, no, I don't". There was a pause, and then my son repeated the exact same thing. It was so...dumb and creepy.

I immediately called my wife. She answered and was irritated and confused. I asked her if she was okay, if something was wrong, and she was pretty damn irritated that I basically thought she wasn't herself. I thought briefly about showing her the camera footage, but then I figured:

A) What kind of wife kill move is that to do to someone. And B) and more importantly, I knew that if I showed her, she'd just be like "what's up with you dude? That's me."

She told me that she was gonna go back to sleep and that she loved me and to stop it with the weird shit.

I did. And I didn't bring it up when I got home. But now that I think about it, she seemed slightly off when I got home. The house was cleaner, but there was an odd smell in the air. It was seriously like someone had extinguished a flame. And when she was walking around, it was all just so...mechanical.

And when my son came running down the stairs, I swear he...jogged to a stop, in a weird way. Like the jog was a mechanism, and the stop was when the mechanism stopped operating. I swear.
