my dads good

My friend came up to me and said that my dad invited them over to hang out and drink some good wine. I was really confused but my dad choked up and said yeah what he meant was everyone should go to that really good winery in town and taste some fine artisanal wine. My dad then told me that mom was out and I just got up and went to bed. I just don't understand why he'd do this. :(
