I bought 100 Pokémon cards for $100 from some shady seller on Mercari who had 0 feedback and no profile picture. He said in the description that he was selling his dead brothers cards and had 3000 cards and some how “lost my brothers cards but I’ll replace them in 2 weeks.”

I thought it was fishy but hey, $100 for 3000 cards is an amazing deal right? I got scammed. Of course he would never send me the cards and he would just delete the listing and his account after a few days. My money was completely down the drain. Until this point I didn’t realize how much money I have wasted on Pokémon cards throughout my life. I’ve spent thousands on them and I don’t have anything to show for it. It’s not like I can use them for anything. Sure it’s fun to collect them but it’s stupid to spend so much money on something that is completely useless in the long run.

I’m going to try to sell most of my Pokémon cards. I’ll keep a handful of my favorites and sell the rest. I’m also going to stop spending money on Pokémon cards all together. This experience has made me think about my other areas of my life where I’m spending money on useless things. I’m going to try to see where I can cut back on useless spending.
