CMV: Thiago Silva doesn’t deserve to win UFC 265 and doesn’t deserve to fight for the title again.

Thiago Silva has lost 6 of his last 7 fights. In his last 11 fights, he has had 6 losses and 3 no contests. After losing 6 of his last 7, he has now won 2 in a row and is getting a title shot. The win streak is nothing to brag about either, beating up a 40 year old Anthony Smith and subbing a ranked guy. The reason he’s getting a title shot is because he’s not getting any younger and it’s probably his last chance. The reason this is thick in the air is because of the whole situation with Volk and Ortega. Had they not abandoned ship and we still had an interim fight, this whole scenario would already be irrelevant and he would not have been in this position to get a title shot. <br><br>Thiago is a legend. He’s obviously one of the best light heavy weights of all time. Had he not been popped for PED’s, he would probably be on an all time list for wins and probably would have had a world title. But he was popped for PED’s and he wasn’t. He’s a legend that will forever be a “what if” unless he wins on Saturday night. <br><br>But he won’t. And no one thinks he will. Back in the day he was known for his highlight reel KO’s. He’s 40 now. His 2 wins were against a 40 year old Anthony Smith and a sub against a ranked guy. In his prime, with KO power, he was getting finished left and right. I can’t imagine he can handle the fisticuffs of Teixeira. <br><br>But let’s say he does win. What does that say about the state of the UFC and MMA if a guy who has gone 2-6-3 in his last 11 fights and 4-8-3 in his last 15 gets an immediate rematch? The guys 40 years old, you could bring him into the next title fight and put him against the winner. It would be an immediate rematch against a guy who would be 41 years old if he wins. It just doesn’t seem right that a guy who has only won 4 fights since 2013 gets an immediate rematch. Also can you imagine the state of his health if he wins and gets an immediate rematch against a guy who’s going to ragdoll him? It’s just not good.
