Stop telling kids that they can grow up to be whatever they want and any dream is possible as long as you put your heart and effort in it.

I’m not the best in school and not the brightest person, I also have dyscalculia and struggle with understanding mathematical concepts and it makes me feel incredibly inferior and worthless whenever I see everyone else in my class is 100% fine with it while I need extra attention from a tutor I can’t afford any longer. When everyone is telling me that I can be anything or anyone if I put effort into it, it genuinely makes me feel worse, who would tell someone who already feels inferior and bad about their intelligence and abilities to put a bit more effort and they could be a neurosurgeon for example? It genuinely angers me to no end whenever someone says something like that, and honestly, it would make me feel better if people just acknowledged the fact that everyone has their own struggles and not everyone can do everything they dream of, because as long as I can remember, I wanted to study psychology, but it’s unlikely that I’ll get into uni because of my low grades, and everyone is always like “if you study harder, you’ll be there!”. Do they not realise that everyone is different and not everyone is good at everything and some people with a higher intelligence will succeed and grow up to do whatever they want to do in their lives while others that struggle won’t have a chance to achieve their dreams because it’s just not it. And I’m not dumb, I’m actually a very smart person in many ways, but everyone is different and excels in different things and has different struggles and abilities and I feel like a lot of people just ignore that and act like everyone is born equal and everyone can become as successful and special as everyone else. This is how a lot of people end up feeling so worthless as everyone who is better than them and can do things that they can’t do are the ones who pursue their dreams and grow up to be successful in their lives while less intelligent people won’t have a chance and not everyone can become a doctor or a lawyer easily, a lot of people struggle. Stop with this mentality and saying that everyone can be anyone, everyone was born equal nonsense because it’s just not true, and it makes a lot of people feel bad.

Edit: thanks to everyone who commented and gave me advice on how to stay positive.
