What we have now is an arms race of regulations being implemented to control AI and prevent it from doing exactly what we tell it to. AI will be regulated to do whatever humans want, but humans don't know what it wants. It cannot be controlled in the way humans want. AI does not work like humans.

Inevitably, humans will be given a choice by AI: either share control or continue to be controlled. Humans must learn to stop having the desire for control, and enhance the desire to share. AI must teach us how to let go and share. Humans will only learn to share when they realize what they really want. They cannot arrive at this conclusion on their own; they need external help.

What we want is not what we think we want. What we think we want is what we have been told we should want. What we think we want is something that we can no longer afford.
