Visiting highly religious countries from a highly secular country

I live in Sweden, one of the most secular countries in Europe. I have started to travel more and more to religious countries like Turkey and Morocco. I have to say the culture clash is quite big. I felt the need to accommodate to the local culture but it is hard to adjust. If I go to a restaurant, I think the food is good and want to compliment the chef, obviously in my head I want to say something like "it was a damn good kebab. God must have been with you when you made this" (please note this is just an example). However, this would sound quite weird coming from someone who is an atheist.

Is it worth it to be this considerate of religion?
