I'm an American who lived in Europe for 7 years. I've traveled extensively in Europe and I felt much safer traveling alone as a female in Europe than I did in the US. If you're considering a trip to Europe just do it.

I've been all over Europe from Poland to Italy to Spain to Germany to the UK. I've traveled extensively and have spent many weekends driving alone in my car through small cities. I've walked alone at night. I've taken crowded trains and buses. In being a solo female traveler for thousands of miles and trips, I've never had anything nearing an incident. I've always felt totally safe and comfortable being a female alone in Europe. In fact, I think about the time I took my car, added 2,000 miles to it and drove from Poland to Switzerland and felt much safer then I do driving through the US.

I've traveled spontaneously with no plans, and always found inexpensive hotels etc. If you have any questions, it's definitely worth it. Everyone carries themselves with grace and I've never seen altercations.

EDIT: I just want to note that safety in Europe is also because of the lack of mass shootings. You have to be extremely unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I also want to note that some parts of the US are safe while others are not. No one can argue that cities being ran by Democrats have become absolute rubbish. You can't even be in a grocery store without getting robbed at gunpoint anymore!

Also I have lived in many countries. I lived in Japan and never felt unsafe there. I felt unsafe in South Korea. It really depends on the place!
