Engaged people: stop with the hashtag “happily ever after” and get a fucking grip on reality

If I see another post of a ring selfie with the hashtag “happily ever after” I’m going to lose my shit.

Marriage is hard work, and it is not all happy. If you think that you can just say some magical words in front of a few people and then expect to have no problems, you are in for the shock of your life.

Stop glorifying marriage and stop pretending that it’s not hard and that it doesn’t take effort.

Stop fetishizing this idea of happily ever after. Couples don’t hate each other for no reason. There are always little things that compound and it’s fucked up to pretend that it doesn’t happen.

Stop pretending that humans aren’t flawed and that every little thing wont annoy you. They will. It’s your job to see past the flaws and make it work.

And stop making your relationship out to be this fairy tale, magic, pure and holy thing. It isn’t and it never will be.
