The billionaire owners of AI startup Anthropic plan to sell the business for a whopping $7 billion in the largest M&A deal since OpenAI.

By any measure, AI startup Anthropic's growth has been remarkable. Yet, despite a $5.5 billion valuation in its last funding round, the company still faces competition from OpenAI and Google, along with the need to fund ongoing research and development. This has led its billionaire co-founders, who were early members of the OpenAI team, to seek a buyer in what could be the largest M&A deal since OpenAI's acquisition.
