I don't do this often, but I just wanted to say a few things about the whole shoplifting discussion. Being an old member of this site (the earliest memories I have of browsing the internet are of coming here), and having manually updated the shoplifting stories a number of times myself, I feel like I need to weigh in here.

First of all, of course shoplifting is wrong. It's also pretty stupid, because you can get in a lot of trouble doing it. I remember reading about Michael yelling at some kids he caught shoplifting at GameStop. Actually, my first time seeing him was when I first joined the site back in 2006. As a kid, I thought it was kind of cool to steal because I felt like I was sticking it to the man. But I'm not a kid anymore, and I don't have that kind of thought process.

That said, I don't think it should be illegal. I think it should be against the business's policy (and you should be banned from the store), but it shouldn't be something you get in legal trouble for. I also don't think that the "punishment fits the crime" with a lot of shoplifting cases.

And, if you think you've never shoplifted something, you probably have. I'm not saying you all have shoplifted something, I'm just saying, do you ever remember eating something in a store, and never paying for it? Or, do you remember walking into a store like Walmart, and already having something on you from their store that you didn't pay for? That's shoplifting. So please don't act like you're above someone who has shoplifted.

Second, I just wanted to say something about my mom. She was in jail for a while, and I've brought that up on the stream a number of times. I do that because it's on my mind a lot, and, as many of you know, the best way to get something off your mind is talking about it. I'll probably talk about it more on future streams.

Why did my mom go to jail? She was a drug addict. She had a lot of legal problems surrounding that, and in the end she went to jail for violating her parole for possession of a controlled substance, and for shoplifting. I'm not defending her decisions because, yes, what she did was wrong. I'm just saying that's what happened, and if you're going to judge me for it, that's fine. That's your decision to make. I don't think you should judge someone based on their parent's decisions, but, again, that's your decision.

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about her jail story (partially because I don't remember much of it), but I remember her telling me a story about what happened when she first got to her cellblock. She told me that she asked the girl she was bunking with "what did you get in for?" And they told her it was a possession charge. Then she said another girl walked by, and laughed and said "I'm in for murder. Y'all are a couple of bitches for what you're in here for."

There are a lot of problems with the US prison system, and the way crime is punished here. I'm not going to list them all out, but I just wanted to say that. So yeah. There are some thoughts.

EDIT: I am a people person. I can't stand when people argue. So I won't be replying on this thread.

EDIT TWO: Apparently some people believe that if my mom is an addict, then I must be too. I just wanted to say that I am not an addict, and have never been to rehab/detox. I'd much rather be drunk or high with y'all than do that shit by myself.
