The skin picking and hair pulling from antidepressants is real

I’ve been on and off antidepressants for a year and a half after a manic episode. I’ve tried several and have had a variety of side effects like crazy vivid dreams and crazy mood swings. The worst side effect that I’ve had for a few months now from my medications Lexapro and Wellbutrin is to pick my skin. I’ve always had acne and have picked at my face but it’s gotten really bad since I started taking my medications.

The hair pulling also started about two months ago. I’ve started pulling my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. It’s so embarrassing and I know it’s from my medications but I’m scared to talk to my doctor about it.

I’ve read a few instances of people with similar issues but I wanted to know if it’s more common than I think and if anyone has found ways to treat it or ways to stop doing it. Thank you for reading!
