This happened in 2017 when my friend was 11 at the time. She had a camp in the summer / fall of that year, and it was a camp where you and your family could go to the camp, pick a cabin, and then your family would go home and you would stay with the counselors and the other kids staying at your cabin. My friend and the other kids at the camp went to the beach one day, and there was a family that was at the beach next to her and her camp.

My friend doesn't remember what the family looked like, but she said they were older, likely in their 40s. Apparently, a man and a woman, likely in their 40s, approached my friend and said, "you dropped your phone over here, do you want it back?"

Now, my friend doesn't have a phone, so she should have said no, but because she's a very shy person, she said yes. Being a very shy person, she then got up and walked with the man and woman, until they were closer to the part of the beach where the family was staying. There was a man and a woman sitting on a beach towel, and they had a little girl with them as well. The little girl was about 7 or 8, and my friend said she was acting very strange, almost as if she was brainwashed or something.

My friend said she told the strangers, "I don't see a phone," and the man and woman told her to come sit down. She told them no, and said she wanted to go back to her camp. After she said that, the strangers got up, and it was very clear they were going to abduct my friend. They started to walk with her, and my friend was very scared. Luckily, the counselors at her camp saw her walking with the strangers, and they ran down the beach to get her and brought her back to her camp.

No police report was filed, but my friend said the counselors were watching that family for the rest of the day until they left. Also as a side note, my friend is a white girl, and the family that was trying to abduct her were white as well.

Edit: A lot of people have been commenting that my friend didn't have a phone, but the strangers were trying to give her one. It's possible my friend misspoke or misremembered the details of the story, and the strangers were lying and saying she dropped a phone.

Edit #2: There's a lot of comments saying the strangers were just nice and giving my friend a phone they found, but that doesn't explain why the family was walking with my friend and trying to get her to sit with them.
