What do you think of the "10 Minute Study Rule"

This rule stipulates that you will only study for 10 minutes at first, after which you will reassess whether you want to study more, then you pop off the idea of studying and then you commit for 10 minutes, and then you reassess again, and so on. I know there is already the Pomodoro timer technique, but I think this rule can be a simple and non-committal way to start studying, or any other activity like that.
