Why does capitalism need to be seen as the downfall of the liberalist society?

I am not asking why we need to rid of our capitalistic system, I am asking why capitalism is always so closely tied to the current liberal society we live in. It is very clear to see that the modern capitalism is the closest thing we have to a liberal society, despite its shortcomings. It is hyper capitalistic and hyper globalized, but it does allow for the fullest liberal experience in terms of participation in the market. Very few other societal structures allow for such an open market participation, as it is the free market that allows for the free exchange of capital. However, in a liberal society, we want our citizens to have freedoms other than the market, we also want to free our citizens from discriminatory practices, issues of poverty, issues of access to healthcare. All of which fail, as we can see in countries with capitalist systems. But then what explains the basis for why capitalism can't be seen as anything else but the liberalist society.
