An alarm system probably saved me from a kidnapping

I had a house with one main window in the front and two windows in the back. In the front door there’s just a solid wood door.

I was sleeping in my bedroom in the morning when I heard the alarm go off. I immediately jumped out of bed to see if anyone was there. I looked around and didn’t really see anything out of the ordinary, so I went back to bed. I figured my alarm just went off by mistake.

A few minutes later it went off again. I got out of bed and checked again and this time I noticed that the one window in the front was wide open. I was very confused because I am positive that I didn’t open that window so I checked again and this time I noticed that there was a person running through the yard next to mine.

I started to panic a little bit and so I ran over to the window and shut it. I had a very bad feeling as I shut that window because it looked to me like the person was gonna get to the window before I could close it.

After I shut the window I thought about the fact that I didn’t have a screen on any of my windows and if I had it, it probably would have been enough to impede the person from getting in. This is why I think I would have been kidnapped.

I never caught the guy and I never heard about anything similar in my neighborhood. I never really thought about this until now because it happened to me a few years ago.
