What's so bad about what you see in 2024 if ChatGPT didn't exist? What's the harm that ChatGPT is not preventing in your opinion?

I think that the AI world is growing so fast that I'm not really sure in what ways that didn't use to exist world before ChatGPT, and that would have been better if it continued on the trajectory it was pre-ChatGPT. I think I might have it backwards and that the ChatGPT world is the "good" trajectory that has been thrown off by the anti-AI people? I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've got a different perspective on this.<br><br>To give an example of what I don't understand, I'm a software engineer and my company is banning ChatGPT and all other generative AIs. I'm guessing that is because we don't want to get sued for accidentally using AI generated code, however I'm not sure why that is a bad thing. Why is it illegal to use it, because it's trademarked? So, if not being able to use AI generated code is illegal, and so we are not allowed to use it, that prevents the harm of working for a company that uses an AI that is trademarked and illegally makes code to generate money. But how does that result in a better world? If you work for a company that makes money using an AI, you are still working for that company whether or not the money is being generated by AIs or not. And I guess that world would exist whether or not ChatGPT existed? So what is the harm that pre-ChatGPT is preventing? Can anyone see it and explain it to me?
