Am I blowing it by taking a trip to Japan?

I recently came into a bit of money (around 50k after taxes). I will admit, this sort of thing doesn't happen to me often, so my mind went straight to a trip to Japan. I live in the United States, and with the cost of a flight, food, and other things, I'm expecting it to be expensive, around 10k for a week and a half long trip. I'm not getting a hotel, I'll be staying with a friend, so that helps.
My issue is that I'm currently saving for a house, and I have a somewhat lower paying job (around 60k a year). It took me around a year to save up around 10k, so a trip would essentially derail that. On the other hand, my income and expenses are pretty consistent, so I could essentially go through the next year saving what I normally do, minus the money I spent on the trip.
I know there's something to be said for enjoying life while you're young, but I'm not sure this isn't just a massive indulgence. Any thoughts?
