A lot of the television shows using fully adult characters in a high school setting are leaning into pedophilia

I was thinking about this recently because of the newest season of riverdale. I think the main characters are supposed to be 19 in the show but they’re still in high school and this season they’re wearing the outfits the actors wearing when they were 16-17. But all the actors are in their mid 20s. <br><br>I think a lot of these shows targeted at a young audience use these types of costumes to lean into pedophilic tendencies because they can get away with more when the actors are adults. I think riverdale is probably one of the worst because it also has a lot of sexualization of the characters (like veronica and Cheryl) and they even had a plot line with a student teacher relationship. <br><br>I know this isn’t a new concept at all, I remember hearing about it in regards to the Archie comics, but I’ve never really seen this in a show before. I’m not really sure if I agree with it or not, I feel like if you’re over 18 then the show can do whatever they want but since the setting is a high school I feel like it’s still really problematic. I would also understand this more if the target audience wasn’t teenagers.
