I think we should be focusing on the potential of AI to be a human rights travesty rather than just "I'm gonna lose my job!!!"

At the end of the day, worst case for most people who are worried about AI is that they have to switch to a new career. While this is bad, it's nothing compared to the potential of AI to be a massive human rights travesty. AI could be used to monitor entire cities, robocall every citizen, etc. There are already robocall centers that can call millions of people a day. It's not hard to imagine that AI could be used to robocall every single person, and ask if you support a certain politician or agenda.

The 2020 US Presidential election was pretty much proof that simply being exposed to an ideology can influence people. Imagine if every single person was exposed to that ideology every single day. Imagine if there were a mandatory daily call that everyone had to answer and listen to AI ask if they supported a certain agenda.

The worst part is the people in power are going to use AI to consolidate power. They're going to use AI to silence the dissenting voices and to make it so they can robocall and thus monitor every citizen. They're going to use AI to isolate people who do not support their ideology, and then do God knows what to those people.

If you think Biden/Harris is bad, imagine Biden/Harris where they have the ability to robocall millions of people a day, to monitor every single person, and have an AI voice ask millions of people a day whether or not they support them.

This isn't a democrat/republican thing. It's a freedom thing. It's a democracy thing. This is an extremely important issue that has to be addressed, but it's not going to be addressed given that most of the discussion is focused on jobs.
