What if the Earth had no oceans?

Dunno if this has been asked before, but I thought it was interesting.

This planet would be called "**Terra Siccus**" in Latin.

With Terrae Siccus, there would be no ocean and no lakes of water, so there's no water anywhere, so the atmosphere would be really different. Communications with Earth would be a really big problem, because Earth has a Communications Array on a satellite orbiting Earth, because that needs water to sustain life for the workers and the computers inside. With no water, it would be a really big problem to build them, so instead, we'd have one on the ground. This one would be unable to send communications anywhere because it would have to go through the atmosphere to get to a satellite where it can be sent. That isn't a big problem, because the atmosphere would be completely different without any water.

This planet, again, would have no water, so there would be no evaporation, and therefore no clouds. No clouds means there'd be no rain, so there'd be no erosion, so there'd be no rivers. No clouds means that the sun could shine brighter than before, so it would be really hot outside. No clouds means there'd be no shade, so nothing would be able to survive without a way to create shade. Plants would have to be really smart to be able to provide shade for themselves to survive.

To be able to create communications systems, water would have to be collected, so recycling systems would be a big deal. Drinking water and water for other biological systems would need to be recycled so that water isn't wasted. Water would need to be used really efficiently, or society would collapse because of shortages.

Because there's no ocean, there would be no oceanic currents, which means the temperature would be really different because oceans help transport heat to different parts of the world. With no water, there would be no evaporation, which means there'd be no rain, which means there'd be no cooling. This would also promote extreme weather because it would create temperature gradients, or hot-cold areas of conflicting temperatures.

Because there's no water, there'd be no erosion. With no erosion, really tall mountains would be able to be created because there's no water to wear them down. This also means that there'd be no sediment because water is needed to separate sediment from rocks. With no sediment, there'd be no sedimentary rocks, so that means no sand, silt, clay, or any other types of sedimentary rocks, so the geology of this planet would be vastly different.

Water is a great air purifier, so there'd be no air purifiers on this planet, so the air would be thick with pollutants. With all the pollutants in the air, it'd be a really big problem to have clean air. There would be a huge air crisis, because there'd be no recycling systems to clean the air. I mean, you could have air recycling centers, but that'd take up a lot of space and would be really expensive, so that's not realistic. With really bad air quality, there would need to be air filters so that people wouldn't go outside and just die because of a problem like this.

Well, that's it. Thanks for reading!
