Am I in the wrong in this situation? (Teacher wanted to take my CPN certification)

I am a medical assistant in a high school for our school district. This is a new position this school year, but my boss and I are taking things slow and figuring things out as we go.

I started a few short weeks ago. I did 8 hours of training at our hospital to learn the position and trained with another MA at that location.

I was assigned to a school a few days ago. The school nurse had been out for a few days so she wasn’t there to train me. I had to follow a teacher to observe how we interact with the students and the staff. The teacher had a child in her class with a medical condition that requires a CPN shot to be administered every few hours.

I did the CPN training at the hospital, but haven’t actually done in an emergency. The teacher didn’t want to be near me while I administered the shot because she worried I didn’t know what I was doing. She took the CPN from me after I did the training to practice with the trainer. She wanted to take the CPN and call 911 if she had to.

I was incredibly offended that she didn’t trust me to do my job. I told her I am completely capable of doing my job and I am just as trained as the MA at the hospital. She went to the vice principal and asked if she could take the CPN away from me. She told them I didn’t know what I was doing, she didn’t trust me, and she wanted to protect the students.

The vice principal did side with me and told her she wouldn’t take the CPN from me, but for her to come to me right away if she felt uncomfortable. I am still fuming that she questioned my training and my ability to do my job. She had the vice principal give her my number so that she could text me and ask me to come to her room before she gave the shot.

This is the only class I need to give the shot to. I thought I was doing well in this new position, but this just made me want to cry. Am I in the wrong? Should I let a teacher take the CPN from me? They don’t have the training that I do. I am just so frustrated by this situation.

Edit: I did tell my boss what happened, and they did reach out to the teacher. My boss basically told the teacher that they need to let me do my job and that if they don’t like it they can go to the principal and vice principal and get nothing done. It was a very sweet response from my boss.
