The title of this post is more of a question.

What the middle class feels the most today is fear. It is out of this fear that they accept the conclusion that they deserve this life of toil and should feel grateful they still have it.

Even though they live in anxiety, it is not the political system they blame but what they perceive as threats to the system.

In this way, fear and nationalism are used to keep the middle class from open class conflict against the ultra-rich.

It doesn't surprise me that Trump rose to power. He was preying on this angst and was a master of using his opposition to eliminate threats to what he stood for.

1\. Fear of change

2\. Fear of losing their position in life

3\. Fear of lost prosperity

The super wealthy and corporations, they know how to use this fear. They've used it for centuries. They fund politicians of anxiety and they fund politicians of safety and prosperity. They fund both, because they know they'll be the winner either way. They control the outcome either way.

I really wonder if the American people will ever see the end of the tunnel.
