If Earth were a typical exoplanet...

Alright, so it's been revealed that there are billions of exoplanets in the galaxy, and most of them are small, terrestrial worlds. Now, most of them aren't habitable because they orbit too close to their star. But let's say Earth's orbit was just a little bit closer to the sun, so that Earth's surface was just a little bit hotter. What would happen to the planet, and how would it affect the evolution of life on Earth. <br>I'm going to do some research, but I think this would be an interesting exercise for anyone who's interested in planetary science or astrobiology.
