A man tried to talk his way in to my house at 3am

One night while I was 18 I was awoken to someone knocking on my door. I looked at my phone and it was 3am. I groggily got out of bed and walked to the door, I could see that the person standing there was a man who I had never seen before, who looked to be in his mid 30s.<br><br>Me - who is this <br><br>Man - hey is Jim here? I’m Dave, he told me I can stay with him for the week. <br><br>I felt a rush of fear wash over me. I had never heard of Jim or Dave, I don’t know if this man was trying to deceive me or not, but something told me to not let him in.<br><br>Me - oh sorry, I don’t know any Jim. This isn’t his house. <br><br>Dave - oh, sorry. I was told he lived here. You don’t think he’d be mad if I waited inside until he gets up? <br><br>Me - I have no idea, like I said I dont know Jim. <br><br>Dave - well, do you think you could call or text him for me? I don’t want him to be mad I showed up late. <br><br>Me - no, sorry. Like I said, I don’t know Jim. <br><br>Dave - ok, can I come in and sit down then? <br><br>Me - no! I don’t know you. <br><br>Dave - come on, I’m a nice guy. I just need to sit down for a minute. <br><br>This was starting to freak me out. There was something so strange about this whole thing. Something that I couldn’t put my finger on. As a woman, I was taught my whole life to never talk to strange men, and here I was, at 3am, talking to a strange man at my front door. <br><br>Me - no, you can not come in. I’m going to call the police. <br><br>Dave - ok, fine! But can you do me a favor? <br><br>Me - what <br><br>Dave - please don’t tell Jim that I was here.<br><br>Me - ok <br><br>He turned around and got in his car and drove off, at that point I closed and locked the door (I hadn’t the entire time, just in case I had to make a run for it) shook my head and went back to bed. <br><br>The next morning I told my boyfriend what happened, and he asked me why I was up at 3am. I told him I wasn’t, that I was awoken by the knocking. He thought that it was weird that I hadn’t reset the alarm when I opened the door, and lo and behold when I checked the alarm, it said front door opened at 2:57, approximately 3 minutes before I was awoken. <br><br>Dave, I have no idea who you are or why you are so interested in getting in to my house, but please, lets not meet again.
