As a resident of Thailand never ever trust the taxi driver and never ever pay the taxi driver the amount in the meter

So there is a lot of scam going on everywhere in tourism area in Thailand the taxi driver picked you up and they said they will bring you to the destination for 200 thb but at the end of the ride the taxi meter said 159 thb. The taxi driver asked you to pay 250 thb and with the meter and his tip and his gas and everything else. I never ever had any experience like that in my life. They always said they will bring me to the destination for 200 thb but in the meter said 159 thb I never ever paid for anything like that never ever they always said it’s for gas and I don’t know what so I reported the case to the police the police came picked up the taxi driver and they said it was their mistake and they asked me to forgive them and they said they were just trying to scam for money they weren’t expecting the police to come. At the end of the day the taxi driver paid me back 400 thb and drive me to the destination that I want to go to and the police bring me back home. They never ever do anything like that to the Thai people but for the foreigners they always thought that the foreigner is rich and they were trying to scam them all the time.
