Do you guys have any advice on how to ask someone on a date?

I have a friend that I have gotten pretty close to over the past year and I really want to ask her on a date. I am terrified of ruining our friendship and I don’t know what to do. I am usually really confident but this has me really nervous. Honestly I don’t really know how to ask someone on a date. I don’t know if I should just ask her in a casual way, in a formal way, or somehow be more creative? I feel sorta silly for not knowing how to do this but I could really use any advice that I can get. What do you think is the best way to ask someone on a date?
