I (26f) am an obgyn nurse and I’ve seen something irksome

Hello everyone! I have been a nurse for approximately 3 years now, specialized in obgyn for about a year. This is something I noticed when I first started working for the clinic I’m in.

Now, women, have you EVER had your period at the exact same time (like the exact same DAY each time) as someone else? I truly can’t think of any other category where this is possible. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Maybe we’re just seeing the world through an odd lens.

I’ve had countless patients get their period over the years, and many, many times when there is a period in the first exam room, it’s like all the other patients are on the same day. Menstrual cycles don’t start and end at the same day, but I have noticed that many times when one woman is having her period, most of the women that come in that day are on their periods as well. So, if you (26f) are having your period today (I hope you have chocolate and a cozy heated blanket) and decide to go to your doctor or to get your pap smear, most of the women that come in today will (most likely) be having their periods as well. I have noticed this for months and months, and it’s just too weird to be a coincidence. Sometimes when I’m on a break I’ll look at the charts for the patients that are waiting and scroll through the days to see if there is a correlation and there is. There are always exceptions to the rule, but in my experience, it’s just too weird to be true. I don’t think there is a lot of Americans in this sub, but if you are American and you get your period around the 13th of January, chances are that many women will be having their periods around then. It’s almost like as if there is something that’s “regulating” our periods and making them happen at a certain time, like the moon and its influence on the tides. I have never noticed a correlation between their ages or their weights, so it’s probably not that. Ok so maybe I looked at too many charts and I was bored, but it is a little weird. I have always been fascinated with the world of the surreal, and this is surreal to me. I have mentioned this to one of my coworkers and she has noticed this too, so it’s not just me.

I think there is more to us than we think there is.

Edit: Oh wow! I didn’t expect this post to get this much attention! Welcome to all the new members of this sub. Thanks for the upvotes and the awards and the kind words, they mean the world to me. Be good to yourselves and to each other, and don’t forget to eat some chocolate if you’re feeling down!
