I shoplift for fun. I’m always trying to see what I can get away with. Today I decided to play a game where I would only steal toys and fill my small backpack with as much as I could fit. I did this in a Walmart, although I have stolen from grocery stores too. I’m female if that makes a *difference.

Anyway I’m walking around picking out everything that would fit in my backpack and wearing a sweater and jeans. Nothing else. I did bring a small umbrella that I hid in the cart. I wanted to see again if I could get away with that as well. First, you need to know you have to know what you’re doing for the umbrella trick to work.

I fill my cart up in the baby section and then head to the cash registers. There’s no lines, except for the self checkout but I don’t like those for this trick. I would rather do what I call the “cashier trick” and then the “umbrella trick” (for the sake of making this short, I’ll call it that.)

(I don’t like to call it a trick because it’s not magic. I just call it a trick for this post.)

The cashier trick is pretty easy, you just need to act like you’re in a hurry. I do this by acting like I’m on my phone as I’m walking to the register. I move a little quicker than most people and I don’t look up. I just put my cart in front of the register that is already open and asking me how I’m doing. I just hand them my card and say “I’m good thank you. Tired.” I do this because I want them to know I’m in a hurry and want to rush as much as possible. I don’t want to be there anymore than 30 seconds if I can. Now, I wait until they hand me my receipt. Immediately, I tell them to keep the change. They usually smile and tell me to have a “good night.” I smile back and start to walk away without my cart. I don’t want to look back because I want them to think I’m already gone. I walk around the corner of the cash registers, although you can’t see the cart from there, I just want to make sure they’re not watching as I go to pick it up.

You have to walk a little bit of a distance to get to the umbrella stand as it is usually near the main entrance. It’s pretty simple as well. You just pick up an umbrella, open it up and walk out the main entrance. Then once you’re outside, you close the umbrella but don’t actually use it. You just carry it like you would a regular stick.

I walk to my car, which is parked near the entrance so I don’t have to walk far, and get in. I shut the door before I open up the back of my car. As I’m doing that, a man is walking into the store. I pay attention to see if he’s security. Sometimes it feels like they’re watching you from the moment you walk in. This guy did look at me but he didn’t go inside the store. Instead he walked to the car next to mine. I knew I didn’t have to worry as the cart was back at the cash registers but I was still a little paranoid because I thought for sure I would be caught.

I opened up the back of my car and pulled out my backpack. It was so heavy and full, it was hard to shut and zip. I pulled out all of the toys, which was a lot, and threw them in the back of my car. Then, I shut it, although I didn’t think I would be able to fit all of the toys in the back. There was so many toys in that small backpack but I finally got it all in. Then I just smiled as I drove away.
