My boyfriend bought me a fat girl’s size up and told me it’s because he likes me the way I am.

I am a size 10. I’m not skinny, I’m not fat, I’m not super curvy, I’m not super anything. I have some weight to lose but everyone does, and I know that. I’ve been this way my whole life and I’m ok with it. I don’t mind gymming, I don’t mind eating salads. But I also don’t mind pizza and fries and a good drink or two.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years. He knows how I look, he has held me in his arms, he has seen me naked, he knows what’s going on. He knows I’m a size 10, he knows exactly what size that is because he buys me clothes all the time.

Recently I went away to see my family. It was a really great trip and I was super happy. But I ate a lot, I drank a lot, and I gained some weight. Not the end of the world, but I was surprised and a bit annoyed at myself. A size 12 feels like a million pounds to me. I’m not at a size 12 but I’m working up to it.

My boyfriend bought me some new underwear and bras and they’re all one cup size bigger and one pants size bigger. I asked him what the deal is and he said he likes the way I look now and wants me to stay this way. I am so annoyed but he’s also very happy with it. He’s been giving me a lot of attention but the reason he likes the weight gain is a mean one. He wants me super curvy and chubby because it’s what he likes, not because he’s concerned about me or my health. He thinks it’s sexy. He’s been buying me sugary snacks and not taking me to the gym. And he’s been making body comparisons and telling me how I should look. Like yeah I get it, we all have our own image of perfect, but if someone told me how they wanted me to look I’d never want to hear it. How do I tell him what he’s doing isn’t right?
