AITA for cutting off my roommate's hair while he was asleep?

My roommate/boyfriend of 3 years went away for a week to help his sister move. I spent the whole week properly cleaning the house (his way of cleaning was just dumping everything under his bed and turning the bed into a cave and completely ignoring everything else) and getting rid of some of his trashy belongings. I also dyed my hair black. He prefers the way I look with my natural hair color and makes comments about how he thinks it looks bad when I get it done any other way.

I came home from work the day he was supposed to get back, turned on the tv, and made myself a snack. I dozed off on the couch and when I woke up he was standing in front of me staring. I asked him how long he'd been there and he said a few hours. He didn't say anything more and just left for his room.

I went to sleep on the couch but at some point in the night he shook me awake and got in my face demanding to know why I changed my hair. I was so groggy that I could barely comprehend what he was saying, and I didn't want to talk to him right then. I tried to ask why he cared so much and he said he didn't want people to think that he was dating somebody with black hair. I told him to go back to sleep and we'll talk about it in the morning. He did.

The next morning I went into the living room after work and he was sitting on the couch. The tv wasn't working and I thought it was because of the remote, so I went to grab a new battery from his room. I saw that he was asleep so I just took the battery and left. But when I came back I saw that he was actually awake the whole time, and he said "I refuse to talk to you until you go back to your old hair."

I spent the next day cleaning out his room and finding all of his disgusting belongings that he tries to hide from me, and going through his phone to see all of the disgusting texts that he sends to me and other women. The next morning I went into his room and I cut all of his hair off. I left the house to pick up dinner. When I got back he was holding his head in despair, saying that I refuse to see how much hair means to him and how it's so disrespectful to do this to him. He said that he doesn't even feel like himself anymore and he refuses to go out in public. I said that he should stop making me feel like I have to hide myself, and he said "I don't want people thinking I'm dating a black haired woman."

AITA?
