Why is Instagram so popular?

I don’t understand why Instagram is so popular, not that I really care. Sometimes I get ads for Instagram on my YouTube videos and I’m just like “didn’t that die? Why would I use it?” Idk if it’s popular among kids or what, but to me, it died with Vine and Snapchat.
