Pragmatism is a stupid concept when it comes to one's actions because your future self is decided by every decision you make, so acting pragmatically isn't "doing the right thing" it's soley about being able to do what you want in the future and is less about being a good person than people think it is.

Here's an example of what I mean. A person who is a vegan will sacrifice others pragmatically, pragmatically they will not have the kind of life others will have. However, the person who is soley on meat will also have to make sacrifices for that lifestyle, so both pragmatically and ethically both are the same. Both will sacrifice others to get what they want, the only difference is one is called good and the other bad.

Let's take another example. If a person is living in a country that soley depends on meat, there's no pragmatic reason to be vegan. Let's assume that person is vegan due to personal beliefs and uprooted their entire life to live in a pragmatically better country for being vegan, one could say their actions are pragmatic, because they sacrificed their entire life to be able to live how they want, they sacrificed others whom they were pragmatically dependant on to live how they want. I know it sounds dumb but the reality is there is no such thing as a pragmatic decision that is better than others, they're all the same because every decision is a sacrifice and that's what living is all about. So when people talk about being pragmatically "rational" one could say they're not being rational they're being irrational, because being pragmatic is not rational because it's deciding what to sacrifice to get what you want, there's no such thing as a pragmatically good person because living is sacrifice.
