Someone left a copy of The Satanic Verses in my room.

I teach middle school English. <br><br>I've never read the book, but I do know that it caused riots and deaths in the early 90s. I grew up in a quiet, secular city in the US so I never heard of it being a controversial book or ever banned. <br><br>Nothing is written on the book. Was this a joke from a student? A parent? <br><br>The book is currently in my desk drawer. I don't really care about the book but I don't want parents angry with me.
