The candidate I supported and voted for won the election, but I'm not thrilled about it.

I've never been more depressed about the state of politics than I am now. I voted for Biden. I'm glad Trump lost. But I feel zero triumph, **unlike the first time Obama won in 2008.**

Things have changed since then. I don't think Trump was a foregone conclusion in 2016. However, his rise to power was a sign of things to come. If you graduated college with a mountain of debt, if you work 60 hours a week and make only enough to survive, if you lost your job due to automation, if you realize the American Dream may be dead, you're going to lash out at the system that failed you. If you were in your early 20s in 2008, you're in your 30s now. You're more desperate now, you have less to lose, and you're more cynical about the system.

What I'm saying is that five years from now, five years after that, and ten years from now, there will be more of you. Count on it. Your numbers are going to grow. There will come a day when the next Trump will win.

Biden won this election, but he **won without a mandate**. The popular vote was close. We're still a very divided country. There's been no reckoning. We've hasn't faced the trauma that the body politic needs to heal.

Biden is not going to bring people together. He won't even try to bring people together. Because **politics is war now.**

That's the worst part. Politics isn't about compromise and finding agreement anymore. It's about bloodsport. It's about vanquishing your enemies and ruining their lives. Our side is as guilty of it as they are. Your side is as guilty as mine. If you doubt that, read the comments.

The reason why Biden won was not because he was the "most electable candidate." It was because he was able to spin the illusion that he was a return to normalcy, a return to the good times. This couldn't be further from the truth.

The truth is that Biden won because he was willing to **allow the left to go low** in order to defeat the right. From Biden's perspective, Trump was such an existential threat that the ends justified the means. It's the same reasoning that the Cheneyites used to justify torture. Biden was willing to sacrifice the long term health of the republic in order to defeat Trump.

The left went low in ways we can't see. **The media went low** when they censored Hunter Biden. **Big Tech went low**. They censored Trump and his supporters. When the left exclaimed that, "Democracy was saved!" they were really saying that **the continued use of these tactics is also justified in the future.**

If you don't think that the right will never accuse the left of "stealing" the election, you are deluded. They already did. **Hoffman** in New York and **Cawthorn** in North Carolina both accused the left of cheating in debates that they won. They will only become more strident.

That's why I'm so pessimistic about the future. Biden won't heal the country. **The Democrats' very strategy was to create a schism.** To create a civil war with one side evil and the other righteous. They created a culture war that will never end.

The media is **breathing a sigh of relief** that the "bad orange man" is gone. **They're not going to call out the left in the same way they called out Trump.** Big Tech is not going to suddenly act neutrally moving forward. That's the world we live in. **If you believe in a neutral media and Big Tech, you're deluded.**

I know some of you will accuse me of **Both Sidesism.** I'm not advocating for that. I believe Trump is a sinister figure who is attacking democracy. But I think the way that my side responded was counterproductive in the long run. I know many of you will disagree with that. **The reason why I posted this is that I want someone, anyone, to see my perspective.**

The reason why I have no joy over Biden's win is because I have no joy over the state of politics. We are in a **devastating** state of **hyper-partisanship and negative polarization.**

That's the reason why I'm sad. I don't think Biden is going to heal the body politic. He won't even try. This is a neverending war. **There's going to be more blood in the mud.**

Welcome to the neverending war. Enjoy the spoils.

EDIT: I've never seen anything like this. Thank you so much kind strangers.

**KingNahsi -** Ten

**JustEma -** Hundred

**VXhel -** Fifty

**MollyBastle -** Fifty

**u/kingnashi -** One Hundred. Seriously, I'm gobsmacked.

**[deleted] -** Twenty

**[deleted] -** Twenty

**[deleted] -** Fifty

**[deleted] -** Twenty

Please, folks, don't feel that you need to give me karma or money. I just wanted to express my opinion. That's it. Thank you.
