CMV: The concept of 'manning up' is a lie perpetuated by women to force men into traditional gender roles without a similar expectation held against them.

I could write a whole essay on this but the long and short of it is that women are expected to woman up to their traditional gender roles but men are also expected to man up to their gender roles. The reason men have been convinced they aren't is because women have been allowed to shed traditional gender roles while men have not (or at least at a much slower rate). <br><br>To clarify a bit, a woman saying "man up" is saying "be a man". In that case, there is also a traditional expectation for women to "woman up" to be a traditional woman. The idea men have that "woman up" is a non-gendered phrase analogous to "grow some balls" is incorrect, as balls have no traditional expectations attached whereas being a woman has plenty.
