What do you think is the best ratio of study time to work involved in a task?

Been having a pretty good run this semester. Doing really well in my classes compared to previous semesters but this time I really focused on creating a schedule and sticking to it.

I have to do 2 hours of study time for 1 hour of college class time. I am in 3 credit hours of classes, 12 credit hours total. This means I have to do about 24 hours of study time this semester. I do 8-10 hours a week so far.

Worked really hard to get that down, when I started college I was doing like 12-15 hours of study time for every 3 credit hours. 18 credit hours a semester was like 60-80 hours of study time, 7 days a week. I think I may have been doing it wrong for a year or two but I wanted to get my degree in 4 years.

Doing 1:2 is really letting me take time off, I don't have to do 60-80 hours a week. I think I'll raise ratio maybe to 3:2, which I've heard is a good ratio. I think 4:2 would be doable, but this means 1 hour of work per 2 hours of studying, a 4:2 ratio means 1 hour of work is 1.5 hours of work involved. 2:1 is the exact opposite.

I'm really struggling to make sure I'm doing the best ratio. I think it really matters and I don't want to under perform. I usually spend the first 30 minutes of my study session reviewing my notes. Then I do assignments but this is really where I'm not sure what the ratio is.

If I spend 8 hours reviewing this chapter and doing all the work involved, and maybe do 2 hours of others activities like reading and watching video, I think that might be the best time ratio and I would be spending maybe 12 hours a week studying.

What ratio do you do? Is this what ratio means? Do you think 4:2 is doable? What would be the benefits of that?
