The world is crazy right now but I went on my first holiday with just my brother and it was really special.

I have never traveled by myself. I’m 25, from the UK, and have always gone on holiday with family or friends. The world has been in turmoil these past few years but I finally got to go away with just my brother (who’s 18).

My brother is a massive Taylor Swift fan and she’s currently on tour in the US so we flew out to New York to see her. I can’t talk too much about her as it was only a few days ago and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else in the UK going but it was incredible and she was so brave doing what she did. We had a fantastic time, met people from all over, and had a great holiday. But it was also just so nice for me and my brother to have our own time together. I’ve never had that before and he’s getting older now so it was time. So if anyone else was thinking of doing it, I’d say go for it. A lot of people that I spoke to had traveled alone (some solo, some just in pairs) and loved it, and the most common question I had was “you could’ve bought a house for those prices” but what would you do with a house? I used to live in London but I’m currently on my parents’ couch in the middle of nowhere. I’d like a house but not enough to let the prices stop me when I have a chance to have fun. It was an amazing time, and we got to do an amazing thing and I have no regrets.

EDIT: oh my god I didn’t think this would get this level of attention. Thank you so much for all the kind words. Apologies for the quality and lack of clarity in this post too.
