If you read or watch the news it’s easy to find this information.

What this means is that 1 CEO makes 278 times more than his workers, which change every year.

Let’s see what other CEO’s make… (Let’s consider the median)

CEO of McDonald’s, (2.1 million)

CEO of Google (0.2 million, before stocks)

CEO of Tesla, (0)

CEO of Microsoft (1 million)

CEO of Amazon (25 million)

Medians CEO salary in the US (7.7 million)

Median household income in the US for 2023 (67k)

So if the median CEO for the median US company makes 277 times the median worker in the US, for the median company… (US median household income is 67k)

CEO makes 18.6 million dollars

CEO of McDonald’s, (2.1 million)

CEO of Google (0.2 million, before stocks)

CEO of Tesla, (0)

CEO of Microsoft (1 million)

CEO of Amazon (25 million)

Median CEO salary in the US (7.7 million)

12 major corporations CEO’s (not all companies obviously)
Only 3 CEO’s make more than 277 times their workers (300k a year for each employee)

The median CEO doesn’t even make 277 times the median worker.

So for any statistic where a corporation pays 277 times the employee is statistically irrelevant to the median CEO for the median worker in the median company in the US.

So… What does it mean? CEO’s make so much more money than employees because CEO’s are a rare breed, (not all can lead a company) and so they make more money.

How a company decides it’s own CEO is it’s own choice, it doesn’t make sense that if CEO’s make too much money it should be illegal.

There are exceptions to the rule, and this is one of them, CEO’s are the exception to the rule, when dealing with correlations.

Companies that make CEOs make 277 times the worker is statistically irrelevant, corporations have workers not households. Workers can be 1,2,3, or 10 in a household.

So while it’s easy to compare median household income in the US, median income for workers may be drastically different.

So… What does it mean?

One CEO makes 277 times more than his workers, which change every year.
