I have a fascination with Indian Journalism for some time. It’s not a very fascinating topic however. I keep coming back to it every time.

Indian journalism is very different from the international journalism standards. International journalism standards are much higher than what is followed in India right now. And even if some Indian journalists follow international journalism standards why do they have to leave their jobs and start their own ventures. Most of them are very brave however some of them are big liars.

So what is Indian journalism? Indian journalism is a journalism practice where they only show what can be shown. They can’t show the truth because they will be attacked, intimidated, abducted, and killed. Indian journalism is only waiting for something to happen. It’s not about creating the news but to only report what happened. They are just reporters. They don’t care what might happen to them.

Now there are two kinds of journalists, online journalists, and offline journalists. Offline journalists are of no value nowadays. You can’t even watch their shows. There is no such thing as journalism in offline media. It’s a paid journalism practice where only what is paid for is the news. Offline journalists can’t be really compared to online journalists. Most of them work for the government or a political party.

Online journalists are more of a YouTuber. They are just like reporters. They don’t have much value but are much more truthful and correct. Most of them work for themselves. They don’t have any journalistic values. Journalism values don’t exist in India. What is written in the books doesn’t apply here. Most of them are not even educated. They may have a certain degree but that doesn’t make them a journalist. Anybody can be a journalist in India these days. You can just buy a camera and start reporting. The truth is journalists can’t report the truth. If they do they will be killed.

So why is this journalism? I don’t understand this. What is this? Is this journalism or is this something else? Why are people or media calling this journalism? Are there any values for these journalists? Do they have any standards? Why are they calling this journalism?

If they can’t report the truth why should they be called journalists? What is their job? Are they just reporters? What will happen to Indian journalism if they can’t report the truth? When will they be able to report the truth? Or will they ever be able to report the truth?

I love this quote from the film RRR. Journalism is about to create news not to report it.

Indian journalism is dead.
