GPT feels forced into every product from Microsoft

Long time ago, I was a hardcore Mac user (2015-2018) but in the last few years I have started using PC and everything from Microsoft. I like simple, clean design of every MS product and most of them are also easy to use so I feel like I can focus on other parts of my life.

Also, I use Office and Teams for work and would say I am satisfied overall, but I am getting a bit frustrated with changes forced in the last few months.

In 2023, I feel like the AI product feels forced into every product from Microsoft. I am not talking about use of AI in product, I am talking how UI and overall user experience feels like it was designed by the marketing team or the CEO. This is my feeling as I am no product manager or UX designer.

I wanted to talk about Teams, what the biggest issue with Teams is that I am no longer able to understand the underlying logic of the app. I feel like I am not in control of the app as it is in control of me. What I mean is that the right panel with GPT doesn't make sense and I have no idea what will be there once I open an app.

For example, when I open a document, what I will see in right panel? I don't know. Everytime I open a doc, I see something else. Sometimes I see GPT, sometimes I see some info from OneNote and I have no idea WHY and I have no control over it. I don't want to see GPT when opening a document. I want to see the document itself.

Also, I want to decide what should the right panel show. This is a job for the action buttons in the top menu bar. With the old design, if I wanted to see info related to the document I was in, I was clicking the "Details" button. In the new design, I click "GPT" to see info related to the document I am currently viewing. Yeah right. I don't want to see GPT in the first place.

Also, I don't want to see GPT when opening a call. Is GPT supposed to join my call? Is the GPT supposed to be a virtual assistant (like Jarvis to Tony Stark) and help me with calls? Is GPT supposed to give me the meeting summary? The GPT panel in call is simply confusing and annoying. Most of the time, I am use app on my laptop and don't have any screen space to waste on this panel. I think most people use the app on their laptop and not on a tablet.

I simply don't want GPT in the right panel as it is unorganized and unpredictable.

I would either like to be able to decide what action buttons to have in the top menu bar or to simply disable the right panel as it is annoying.

I don't know if I feel like this is because I am 35 and I am no longer able to get used to these changes but it feels like the GPT changes were made by the CEO and the marketing team and it feels like no UX designer or product manager was involved in the process.

What are your thoughts and feelings about the recent changes in Teams and other MS products?
