Hate the player not the game

I never get this phrase, if I was gonna get this phrase it would be the other way around and I would hate the game not the player, I don't want to be the one playing this game I don't even want to sit back and watch, I don't like the game, I hate it, so it makes perfect sense to hate the game, on the other hand I don't hate the players because I think they're doing the best they can, and who knows maybe the game is rigged, maybe the game is pointing them in a certain direction and they're just doing the best they can.
